As a responsible energy company, we enable local, regional, and global partners to achieve resource-efficient and carbon-neutral economies. We recognize the challenge and relish the opportunity to provide a key element in decarbonization plans for cities, communities, and businesses – in the form of clean and affordable energy.
The world is on a mission to tackle climate change and transition from fossil-based energy to renewable resources. That means energy systems are undergoing fundamental transformations. In addition, widespread electrification in transport and industry drives a huge increase in demand for energy – generating as much of that demand as possible from renewable sources is a global priority.
We provide energy solutions for our shared future and the generations to come. We respect the planet and take responsibility for our role in mitigating the climate crisis. It’s why we support global GHG reduction and biodiversity protection targets. It’s about action, not excuses.
The decarbonization of the energy business is a priority for us. We work to decouple our growth from the use of fossil-based energy sources.
That’s why we develop innovative, tailor-made, sustainable solutions – encouraging customers to transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy in district heating and cooling. We support ecosystem and biodiversity protection through sustainable sourcing of biofuels.
Ecosystem and biodiversity protection is a critical factor in the fight against biodiversity loss. We mainly produce heat from biofuels and in 2023, we began a certification program in collaboration with our suppliers. – We plan to use 100% sustainably sourced biomass by 2025 and be aligned with Renewable Energy Directive methodologies.
We encourage customers to transition from fossil fuels to renewable district heating and cooling. An example of this is building a cooling solution for the E-Piim dairy factory in Paide, Estonia.
It’s our responsibility to avoid negative impacts on the environment and society. We do that by operating efficiently and using leading-edge technology to minimise damage to land, air, water and people.
We aim to reduce the impact of our energy production and supply by operating our district heating and cooling systems and high-efficiency cogeneration plants as efficiently as possible, and minimising pollutants to air, water, and soil.
We provide clean, secure, affordable, and innovative energy solutions, and we empower communities to make sustainable choices. Gren respects all stakeholders – our customers, suppliers, partners, and authorities. Their rights, wellbeing, and safety are important to us.
We empower and educate local communities so that they can make better and more sustainable choices. We prioritise respect for human rights and high labor standards in our value chain. We aspire to maintain strict alignment to the Supplier Code of Conduct and minimum social safeguards.
Our employees bring our strategy and ambitions to life – we constantly push for innovation and strive to improve. Our culture is based on respect, and we create working conditions where safety is the top priority. Equality is a fundamental principle, and we strive to ensure our people feel fully engaged.
Diversity, equity and inclusion are fundamental principles in our organisation – we maintain safe working conditions, develop engaging work experiences, and continually review and improve our working culture.
We practice active dialogue with our stakeholders to improve our services and shape our sustainability journey. This includes engaging with our employees, managing our supplier relationships to ensure sustainable fuel origin as well as getting feedback from our customers.
Cities and towns in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and the United Kingdom are key partners for us in building sustainable environments for people and businesses.
In the cities where we operate, we support local communities with educational projects related to energy efficiency and support schools, local sports clubs and art associations.
