Energy company Gren announces a leadership transition in its Lithuanian operations. After several years leading the company in Lithuania, Vitalijus Žuta, Country Manager, has decided to retire.

As of 1 March 2026, Vitalijus will step down from his role. During his tenure, he played a key role in strengthening Gren’s presence in Lithuania, developing its operations, and supporting the company’s long-term growth in the market. During this period, Vitalijus Žuta led the development of Gren Klaipėda, Lithuania’s first waste-to-energy plant, and Kauno kogeneracinė jėgainė, the country’s second waste-to-energy facility. These projects played an important role in strengthening Lithuania’s modern waste management and energy infrastructure and significantly advancing the country’s position in the European waste-to-energy landscape.

“Leading Gren in Lithuania has been a meaningful and rewarding chapter of my professional life,” says Vitalijus Žuta. “I am proud of what we have built together with the team and confident that Gren’s Lithuanian operations are well positioned for the future. I am pleased to support a smooth transition and to pass the baton to a strong successor.”

Gren also announces that Paulius Martinkus will join the company and assume the role of Country Manager, Lithuania, as of 17 February 2026. Paulius will work closely with Vitalijus during a transition period to ensure continuity and a smooth handover of responsibilities. In his new role, Paulius Martinkus will be responsible for Gren’s local business in Lithuania, working closely with customers, partners, and stakeholders, and supported by the wider Gren organisation.

Paulius brings extensive experience in corporate governance, leadership, and strategy, particularly in infrastructure-intensive and regulated sectors. His previous roles include CEO of the Vilnius Regional Waste Management Centre, Chief Strategy and Business Development Officer at Vilnius District Heating Company, Vice Minister of Transport and Communications, Head of the Governance Coordination Centre for State-Owned Enterprises, and President of the Baltic Institute of Corporate Governance. Since 2008, he has also served as an independent board member for numerous private and state-owned companies.

“I’m genuinely looking forward to working with the Gren team in Lithuania, learning from their expertise, and contributing to the company’s strategic priorities and long-term sustainable success,” says Paulius Martinkus.

Gren emphasises that the leadership transition will not affect ongoing operations, projects, or commitments to customers and partners.
