Gren’s Industrial Energy Service plant for Juodeliai enters operations
Northern European energy company Gren is pleased to announce the successful completion and commissioning of its Industrial Energy Service (IES) project with Juodeliai, Europe’s leading wooden pallet blanks manufacturer. The project, originally announced in June 2024, has been implemented and now supports Juodeliai’s production expansion at their Marijampolė site with a reliable and sustainable source of industrial heat.
The collaboration brings into operation a new energy plant that converts Juodeliai’s by-products generated during wood processing into valuable process heat for the company’s advanced lumber drying operations. Gren’s energy plant enables Juodeliai to increase production capacity while reducing the environmental footprint of its energy operations.
Gren’s Industrial Energy Service team has delivered the full project scope – design, construction, installation, commissioning, and operational readiness-under a long-term service model that ensures stability, efficiency, and continuous process reliability for Juodeliai.
Gediminas Venckus, Head of Business Development, Baltics at Gren, says: “This project is a strong example of Gren’s IES value propositions, where our Service led by transparency and flexibility supports industries’ demand for on-site energy production, allowing them to focus on their core business. The successful start of energy supply to Juodeliai marks an important milestone in our long-term partnership and demonstrates Gren’s expertise and commitment of being a reliable energy partner to industrial customers, taking on complex energy solutions on their behalf. We now look forward to continuously improving energy operations through close cooperation with Juodeliai as our partnership continues.”
The energy plant now supplies the initial 5MW of process heat, with the infrastructure in place to scale up to 10MW in line with Juodeliai’s future production needs.
Key features of the completed Industrial Energy Service:
- Full lifecycle service: Gren has financed, designed, constructed, and commissioned the industrial energy infrastructure and will continue to operate and maintain it throughout the duration of the long-term agreement.
- Sustainable and circular energy: The plant turns Juodeliai’s by-products into renewable industrial heat, supporting the company’s sustainability goals.
- Scalable capacity: With 5MW currently in operation and capacity to expand to 10MW, the system is built for Juodeliai’s growing energy requirements.
- Operational excellence: Gren now oversees all aspects of energy production, ensuring efficiency, reliability, and environmental performance.
The completion of this project marks an important milestone for both companies. Juodeliai gains a reliable and environmentally responsible heat supply for its expanded production, while Gren strengthens its role as a trusted long-term partner for industrial clients seeking sustainable, cost-efficient, and scalable energy solutions.
